This work examines tourist snapshots taken in Prague, Czech Republic, by strangers, which I collected from the internet.
What purpose do these pictures serve? As the figure (in the foreground) is not depicted favorably and the sight (in the background) is not clearly graspable, the question arises of whether they serve merely as evidence, showing the viewer: «I was there.»
By staging the poses in front of a white backdrop, I isolate the subject from its actual surroundings in order to focus on the body poses and their size ratio to the image. The image captions present in the book describe the weather in the source picture and the person-to-monument ratio.
